Military personnel and veterans are at heightened risk for exposure to traumatic events and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), as well as intimate relationship problems associated with PTSD.The purpose of this study was to evaluate the relative efficacy of CBCT and PE in improving intimate relationship functioning in active duty military personnel or veterans and their intimate partners; both conditions were hypothesized to significantly improve PTSD. Method: In this study, 32 military service members or veterans with PTSD and their intimate partners were randomized to receive either Cognitive-Behavioral Conjoint Therapy for PTSD (n = 15; CBCT; [Monson, C. M., & Fredman, S. J. (2012). Cognitive-behavioral conjoint therapy for posttraumatic stress disorder: Harnessing the healing power of relationships. Guilford]), a trauma-focused couple therapy, or Prolonged Exposure (n = 17; PE; [Foa, E. B., Hembree, E. A., Dancu, C. V., Peterson, A. L., Cigrang, J. A., & Riggs, D. S. (2008). Prolonged exposure treatment for combat-related stress disorders - provider's treatment manual [unpublished]. Department of Psychiatry, University of Pennsylvania]), a front-line evidence-based individual treatment for PTSD.There were significant challenges with recruitment and a significant difference in dropout from treatment for the two therapies (65% for PE; 27% for CBCT). Treatment dropout was differentially related to pre-treatment relationship functioning; those with below average relationship functioning had higher dropout in PE compared with CBCT, whereas those with above average relationship functioning did not show differential dropout. In general, CBCT led to relational improvements, but this was not consistently found in PE. Clinician- and self-reported PTSD symptoms improved with both treatments.This study is the first to test a couple or family therapy against a well-established, front-line recommended treatment for PTSD, with expected superiority of CBCT over PE on relationship outcomes. Lessons learned in trial design, including considerations of equipoise, and the effects of differential dropout on trial analyses are discussed. This trial provides further support for the efficacy of CBCT in the treatment of PTSD and enhancement of intimate relationships.

Microbial food spoilage is a major contributor to food waste and, hence, to the negative environmental sustainability impacts of food production and processing. Globally, it is estimated that 15-20% of food is wasted, with waste, by definition, occurring after primary production and harvesting (for example, in households and food service establishments). Although the causative agents of food spoilage are diverse, many microorganisms are major contributors across different types of foods. For example, the genus Pseudomonas causes spoilage in various raw and ready-to-eat foods. Aerobic sporeformers (for example, members of the genera Bacillus, Paenibacillus and Alicyclobacillus) cause spoilage across various foods and beverages, whereas anaerobic sporeformers (for example, Clostridiales) cause spoilage in a range of products that present low-oxygen environments. Fungi are also important spoilage microorganisms, including in products that are not susceptible to bacterial spoilage due to their low water activity or low pH. Strategies that can reduce spoilage include improved control of spoilage microorganisms in raw material and environmental sources as well as application of microbicidal or microbiostatic strategies (for example, to products and packaging). Emerging tools (for example, systems models and improved genomic tools) represent an opportunity for rational design of systems, processes and products that minimize microbial food spoilage.

Small- and medium-sized dairy processing facilities (SMDFs) may face unique challenges with respect to controlling Listeria in their processing environments, e.g., due to limited resources. The aim of this study was to implement and evaluate environmental monitoring programs (EMPs) for Listeria control in eight SMDFs in a ∼1-year longitudinal study; this included a comparison of pre-operation (i.e., after cleaning and sanitation and prior to production) and mid-operation (i.e., at least 4 h into production) sampling strategies. Among 2,072 environmental sponge samples collected across all facilities, 272 (13%) were positive for Listeria. Listeria prevalence among pre- and mid-operation samples (15% and 17%, respectively), was not significantly different. Whole genome sequencing (WGS) performed on select isolates to characterize Listeria persistence patterns revealed repeated isolation of closely related Listeria isolates (i.e., ≤20 high-quality single nucleotide polymorphism [hqSNP] differences) in 5/8 facilities over >6 months, suggesting Listeria persistence and/or reintroduction was relatively common among the SMDFs evaluated here. WGS furthermore showed that for 41 sites where samples collected pre- and mid-operation were positive for Listeria, Listeria isolates obtained were highly related (i.e., ≤10 hqSNP differences), suggesting that pre-operation sampling alone may be sufficient and more effective for detecting sites of Listeria persistence. Importantly, our data also showed that only 1/8 of facilities showed a significant decrease in Listeria prevalence over 1 year, indicating continued challenges with Listeria control in at least some SMDFs. We conclude that options for simplified Listeria EMPs (e.g., with a focus on pre-operation sampling, which allows for more rapid identification of likely persistence sites) may be valuable for improved Listeria control in SMDFs.

BACKGROUND: The primary objective of this cross-sectional retrospective study was to describe the implementation of dietitian prescribed nutrition recommendations in malnourished paediatric patients in the hospital and ambulatory settings. We also aimed to investigate other characteristics that could be associated with differences in implementation. METHODS: Data were collected from 186 hospitalised and 565 ambulatory patients between February 2020 and January 2021. Data included age, hospital or ambulatory specialty departments, primary diagnosis, malnutrition status, hospital length of stay (LOS), and medical nutrition therapy recommendations. Implementation by the medical team in the hospital setting and adherence by the family in the outpatient setting were categorised as "Full", "Partial" or "None". "Partial" and "None" were combined for analysis. RESULTS: Dietitian prescribed recommendations were implemented in 79.6% of hospitalised patients. In the ambulatory population, 46.4% of patients were adherent with nutrition recommendations. Within the hospital, there was a significant difference in implementation of nutrition recommendations based on age (p = 0.047), hospital department (p = 0.002) and LOS (p = 0.04), whereas, in the ambulatory population, there were no significant differences in the rate of adherence among any of the studied characteristics. CONCLUSIONS: Dietitian recommendations are frequently implemented in the hospital, whereas adherence to such recommendations is poor in the outpatient population. Interventions to improve adherence to nutrition recommendations in the ambulatory setting are needed.

The advent of social media has changed numerous aspects of modern life, with users developing and maintaining personal and professional relationships, following and sharing breaking news and importantly, searching for and disseminating health information and medical research. In the present paper, we reviewed available literature to outline the potential uses, pitfalls and impacts of social media for providers, scientists and institutions involved in digestive health in the domains of patient care, research and professional development. We recommend that these groups become more active participants on social media platforms to combat misinformation, advocate for patients, and curate and disseminate valuable research and educational materials. We also recommend that societies such as NASPGHAN assist its members in accessing training on effective social media use and the creation and maintenance of public-facing profiles and that academic institutions incorporate substantive social media contributions into academic promotion processes.

Laboratory Pasteurization Count (LPC) enumerates thermoduric bacteria and is one parameter used to assess raw milk quality. While there is currently no regulatory limit for LPC, LPC data are used by some dairy processors and cooperatives to designate raw milk quality premiums paid to farmers and may also be used for troubleshooting bacterial contamination issues. Despite occasionally being used as a proxy for levels of bacterial spores in raw milk, there is limited knowledge of the types of organisms that are enumerated by LPC in contemporary raw milk supplies. While historical studies have reported that thermoduric bacteria quantified by LPC may predominantly represent Gram-positive cocci, updated knowledge on microbial populations enumerated by LPC in contemporary organic raw milk supplies is needed. To address this gap, organic raw milk samples from across the United States (n = 94) were assessed using LPC, and bacterial isolates were characterized. LPC ranged from below detection (<0.70 log cfu/mL) to 4.07 log cfu/mL, with a geometric mean of 1.48 log cfu/mL. Among 380 isolates characterized by 16S rDNA sequencing, 52.6%, 44.5%, and 2.4% were identified as Gram-positive sporeformers, Gram-positive non-sporeformers, and Gram-negatives, respectively, and 0.5% that could not be categorized into those groups because they could only be assigned a higher level of taxonomy. Isolates identified as Gram-positive sporeformers were predominantly Bacillus (168/200) and Gram-positive non-sporeformers were predominately Brachybacterium (56/169) and Kocuria (47/169). To elucidate if the LPC level can be an indicator of the type of thermoduric (e.g., sporeforming bacteria) present in raw milk, we evaluated the proportion of sporeformers in raw milk samples with LPC of ≤100 cfu/mL, 100 to 200 cfu/mL, and ≥200 cfu/mL (51%, 67%, and 35%), showing a trend for sporeformers to represent a smaller proportion of the total thermoduric population when LPC increases, although overall linear regression showed no significant association between the proportion of sporeformers and the LPC concentration. Hence, LPC level alone provides no insight into the makeup of the thermoduric population in raw milk and further characterization is needed to elucidate the bacterial drivers of elevated LPC in raw milk. We therefore further characterized the isolates from this study using matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization time of flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS), a rapid microbial identification tool that is more readily available to dairy producers than 16S rDNA PCR and sequencing. While our data indicated agreement between 16S and MALDI-TOF MS for 66.6% of isolates at the genus level, 24.2% and 9.2% could not be reliably identified or were mischaracterized using MALDI-TOF, respectively. This suggests that further optimization of this method is needed to allow for accurate characterization of thermoduric organisms commonly found in raw milk. Ultimately, our study provides a contemporary perspective on thermoduric bacteria selected by the LPC method and establishes that the LPC alone is not sufficient for identifying the bacterial drivers of LPC levels. Further development of rapid characterization methods that are accessible to producers, cooperatives, and processors will support milk quality troubleshooting efforts and ultimately improve outcomes for dairy industry community members.

Psychiatry is rapidly adopting digital phenotyping and artificial intelligence/machine learning tools to study mental illness based on tracking participants' locations, online activity, phone and text message usage, heart rate, sleep, physical activity, and more. Existing ethical frameworks for return of individual research results (IRRs) are inadequate to guide researchers for when, if, and how to return this unprecedented number of potentially sensitive results about each participant's real-world behavior. To address this gap, we convened an interdisciplinary expert working group, supported by a National Institute of Mental Health grant. Building on established guidelines and the emerging norm of returning results in participant-centered research, we present a novel framework specific to the ethical, legal, and social implications of returning IRRs in digital phenotyping research. Our framework offers researchers, clinicians, and Institutional Review Boards (IRBs) urgently needed guidance, and the principles developed here in the context of psychiatry will be readily adaptable to other therapeutic areas.

Ropy defect of pasteurized fluid milk is a type of spoilage which manifests itself by an increased viscosity, slimy body, and string-like flow during pouring. This defect has, among other causes, been attributed to the growth, proliferation and exopolysaccharide production by coliform bacteria, which are most commonly introduced in milk as post-pasteurization contaminants. As we identified both Klebsiella pneumoniae ssp. pneumoniae and Rahnella inusitata that were linked to a ropy defect, the goal of this study was to characterize 3 K. pneumoniae ssp. pneumoniae strains and 2 R. inusitata for (1) their ability to grow and cause ropy defect in milk at 6°C and 21°C and to (2) probe the genetic basis for observed ropy phenotype. Although all K. pneumoniae ssp. pneumoniae and R. inusitata strains showed net growth of >4 log10 over 48 h in UHT milk at 21°C, only R. inusitata strains displayed growth during 28-d incubation period at 6°C (>6 log10). Two out of 3 K. pneumoniae ssp. pneumoniae strains were capable of causing the ropy defect in milk at 21°C, as supported by an increase in the viscosity of milk and string-like flow during pouring; these 2 strains were originally isolated from raw milk. Only one R. inusitata strains was able to cause the ropy defect in milk; this strain was able to cause the defect at both 6°C and 21°C, and was originally isolated from a pasteurized milk. These findings suggest that the potential of K. pneumoniae ssp. pneumoniae and R. inusitata to cause ropy defect in milk is a strain-dependent characteristic. Comparative genomics provided no definitive answer on genetic basis for the ropy phenotype. However, for K. pneumoniae ssp. pneumoniae, genes rffG, rffH, rfbD, and rfbC involved in biosynthesis and secretion of enterobacterial common antigen (ECA) could only be found in the 2 strains that produced ropy defect, and for R. inusitata a set of 2 glycosyltransferase- and flippase genes involved in nucleotide sugar biosynthesis and export could only be identified in the ropy strain. Although these results provide some initial information for potential markers for strains that can cause ropy milk, the relationship between genetic content and ropiness in milk remains poorly understood and merits further investigation.

Numerous ethics guidelines have been handed down over the last few years on the ethical applications of machine learning models. Virtually every one of them mentions the importance of "fairness" in the development and use of these models. Unfortunately, though, these ethics documents omit providing a consensually adopted definition or characterization of fairness. As one group of authors observed, these documents treat fairness as an "afterthought" whose importance is undeniable but whose essence seems strikingly elusive. In this essay, which offers a distinctly American treatment of "fairness," we comment on a number of fairness formulations and on qualitative or statistical methods that have been encouraged to achieve fairness. We argue that none of them, at least from an American moral perspective, provides a one-size-fits-all definition of or methodology for securing fairness that could inform or standardize fairness over the universe of use cases witnessing machine learning applications. Instead, we argue that because fairness comprehensions and applications reflect a vast range of use contexts, model developers and clinician users will need to engage in thoughtful collaborations that examine how fairness should be conceived and operationalized in the use case at issue. Part II of this paper illustrates key moments in these collaborations, especially when inter and intra disagreement occurs among model developer and clinician user groups over whether a model is fair or unfair. We conclude by noting that these collaborations will likely occur over the lifetime of a model if its claim to fairness is to advance beyond "afterthought" status.

Purpose: Tezepelumab, a human monoclonal antibody, blocks thymic stromal lymphopoietin. In the phase 3 NAVIGATOR study (NCT03347279), tezepelumab reduced annualized asthma exacerbation rates (AAERs) versus placebo, irrespective of baseline disease characteristics, and improved lung function and symptom control versus placebo in adults and adolescents with severe, uncontrolled asthma. We assessed the efficacy of tezepelumab in patients with severe asthma with or without nasal polyps (NPs) in the 2 years before randomization in NAVIGATOR. Methods: Patients with severe asthma (N=1059) were randomized (1:1) and received tezepelumab 210 mg or placebo every 4 weeks subcutaneously for 52 weeks. Prespecified exploratory analyses included: AAER over 52 weeks and changes from baseline to week 52 in pre-bronchodilator forced expiratory volume in 1 second, Sino-Nasal Outcome Test (SNOT)-22 scores, and asthma control and health-related quality life (HRQoL) outcomes in NP subgroups. Changes from baseline in fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO), blood eosinophil counts, total immunoglobulin E (IgE), eosinophil-derived neurotoxin (EDN), matrix metalloproteinase-10 (MMP-10), and serum interleukin (IL)-5, IL-6, IL-8 and IL-13 were assessed (post hoc). Results: Tezepelumab reduced the AAER over 52 weeks versus placebo by 85% (95% confidence interval [CI]: 72, 92; n=118) and 51% (95% CI: 40, 60; n=941) in patients with and without NPs, respectively. At week 52, tezepelumab improved lung function, asthma control and HRQoL versus placebo in patients with and without NPs. Tezepelumab reduced SNOT-22 total scores (least-squares mean difference versus placebo [95% CI]) in patients with NPs at 28 weeks (-12.57 points [-19.40, -5.73]) and 52 weeks (-10.58 points [-17.75, -3.41]). At week 52, tezepelumab reduced blood eosinophil counts and FeNO, IgE, IL-5, IL-13, EDN and MMP-10 levels versus placebo, irrespective of NP status. Conclusion: Tezepelumab resulted in clinically meaningful improvements in sino-nasal symptoms and asthma outcomes in patients with severe asthma with comorbid NPs.

Importance: Despite the increased perinatal risks associated with pregnancies conceived with infertility treatment, there are no recommendations for timing of delivery among this at-risk population. Objective: To identify the gestational age at which the ongoing risks of stillbirth are optimally balanced with the risks of neonatal comorbidities and infant deaths in term singleton pregnancies conceived with infertility treatment. Design, Setting, and Participants: This cohort study used birth and death data from January 1, 2014, to December 31, 2018, in the US obtained from the National Center for Health Statistics. Singleton pregnancies conceived with infertility treatment delivered at term (37-42 weeks' gestation) were eligible for inclusion. The exclusion criteria were deliveries at less than 37 weeks' or at least 43 weeks' gestation and pregnancies with unknown history of infertility treatment, congenital anomalies, pregestational diabetes, pregestational hypertension, gestational hypertension, and preeclampsia. Data were analyzed from July 22, 2022, to June 24, 2023. Exposure: Gestational age at delivery between 37 and 42 weeks. Main Outcomes and Measures: The primary outcome was optimal timing of delivery. To ascertain this timing, the risk of delivery (rate of neonatal morbidity and infant death) at a given gestational week was compared with the risk of delivery in the subsequent week of gestation for an additional week (rate of stillbirth during the given week per 10 000 ongoing pregnancies plus rate of neonatal morbidity and infant death in the subsequent week of gestation per 10 000 deliveries). The rates of stillbirth, neonatal morbidity, and infant death (within 1 year of life) were compared at each week. Neonatal morbidity included an Apgar score of 3 or lower at 5 minutes, requirement of ventilation for 6 hours or more, neonatal intensive care unit admission, and seizures. Results: Of the 178 448 singleton term pregnancies conceived with infertility treatment (maternal mean [SD] age, 34.2 [5.2] years; mean [SD] gestational age, 39.2 [1.2] weeks; 130 786 [73.5%] were non-Hispanic White patients). The risk of delivery in the subsequent week of gestation was lower than the risk of delivery at both 37 weeks (628 [95% CI, 601-656] vs 1005 [95% CI, 961-1050] per 10 000 live births) and 38 weeks (483 [95% CI, 467-500 vs 625 [95% CI, 598-652] per 10 000 live births). The risks of delivery in subsequent week of gestation significantly exceeded the risk of delivery at 39 weeks (599 [95% CI, 576-622] vs 479 [95% CI, 463-495] per 10 000 live births) and were not significant at 40 weeks (639 [95% CI, 605-675] vs 594 [95% CI, 572-617] per 10 000 live births) and 41 weeks (701 [95% CI, 628-781] vs 633 [95% CI, 599-669] per 10 000 live births). Conclusions and Relevance: Results of this study suggest that, in pregnancies conceived with infertility treatment, delivery at 39 weeks provided the lowest perinatal risk when comparing risk of delivery at this week of gestation vs the subsequent week of gestation.

Harmful cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) exposures can cause illness or death in humans and animals. We characterized American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) Animal Poison Control Center (APCC) harmful blue-green algae (HBGA) call data, compared it to a measure of harmful algal bloom public awareness, and considered its suitability as a public health information source. ASPCA APCC dog and cat "HBGA exposure" calls made 1 January 2010-31 December 2022 were included. We calculated annual HBGA call percentages and described calls (species, month, origin, exposure route). We characterized public awareness by quantifying Nexis Uni® (LexisNexis Academic; New York, NY, USA)-indexed news publications (2010-2022) pertaining to "harmful algal bloom(s)". Call percentage increased annually, from 0.005% (2010) to 0.070% (2022). Of 999 HBGA calls, 99.4% (n = 993) were dog exposures. Over 65% (n = 655) of calls were made July-September, largely from the New England (n = 154 (15.4%)) and Pacific (n = 129 (12.9.%)) geographic divisions. Oral and dermal exposures predominated (n = 956 (95.7%)). Harmful algal bloom news publications increased overall, peaking in 2019 (n = 1834). Higher call volumes in summer and in the New England and Pacific geographic divisions drove HBGA call increases; public awareness might have contributed. Dogs and humans have similar exposure routes. ASPCA APCC HBGA call data could serve as a public health information source.

BACKGROUND: Asthma exacerbation frequencies vary throughout the year owing to seasonal triggers. Tezepelumab is a human monoclonal antibody that targets thymic stromal lymphopoietin. In the phase 3 NAVIGATOR study (NCT03347279), tezepelumab significantly reduced the annualized asthma exacerbation rate (AAER) vs placebo in patients with severe, uncontrolled asthma. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the effect of tezepelumab on asthma exacerbations across all seasons in NAVIGATOR patients (post hoc). METHODS: NAVIGATOR was a multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study. Patients (12-80 years old) were randomized 1:1 to tezepelumab 210 mg or placebo subcutaneously every 4 weeks for 52 weeks. AAER over 52 weeks was assessed by season. Data from patients in the Southern Hemisphere were transformed to align with Northern Hemisphere seasons. RESULTS: Tezepelumab reduced the AAER vs placebo by 63% (95% confidence interval [CI], 52-72) in winter, 46% (95% CI, 26-61) in spring, 62% (95% CI, 48-73) in summer, and 54% (95% CI, 41-64) in fall. In matched climates, during the spring allergy season (March 1 to June 15) and ragweed allergy season (September), tezepelumab reduced the AAER vs placebo in patients with seasonal allergy by 59% (95% CI, 29-77) and 70% (95% CI, 33-87), respectively. In patients with perennial allergy and in those with seasonal allergy, tezepelumab reduced the AAER vs placebo across all seasons. CONCLUSION: Tezepelumab reduced exacerbations across all seasons vs placebo in patients with severe, uncontrolled asthma, including patients with seasonal and perennial allergies. These data further support the efficacy of tezepelumab in a broad population of patients with severe, uncontrolled asthma. Changing ocean temperatures are predicted to challenge marine organisms, especially when combined with other factors, such as ocean acidification. Acclimation, as a form of phenotypic plasticity, can moderate the consequences of changing environments for biota. Our understanding of how altered temperature and acidification together influence species' acclimation responses is, however, limited compared with that of responses to single stressors. This study investigated how temperature and acidification affect the thermal tolerance and righting speed of the girdled dogwhelk, Trochia cingulata. Whelks were acclimated for 2 weeks to combinations of three temperatures (11°C: cold, 13°C: moderate and 15°C: warm) and two pH regimes (8.0: moderate and 7.5: acidic). We measured the temperature sensitivity of the righting response by generating thermal performance curves from individual data collected at seven test temperatures and determined critical thermal minima (CTmin) and maxima (CTmax). We found that T. cingulata has a broad basal thermal tolerance range (∼38°C) and after acclimation to the warm temperature regime, both the optimal temperature for maximum righting speed and CTmax increased. Contrary to predictions, acidification did not narrow this population's thermal tolerance but increased CTmax. These plastic responses are likely driven by the predictable exposure to temperature extremes measured in the field which originate from the local tidal cycle and the periodic acidification associated with ocean upwelling in the region. This acclimation ability suggests that T. cingulata has at least some capacity to buffer the thermal changes and increased acidification predicted to occur with climate change.

BACKGROUND: The COVID-19 pandemic required science to provide answers rapidly to combat the outbreak. Hence, the reproducibility and quality of conducting research may have been threatened, particularly regarding privacy and data protection, in varying ways around the globe. The objective was to investigate aspects of reporting informed consent and data handling as proxies for study quality conduct. METHODS: A systematic scoping review was performed by searching PubMed and Embase. The search was performed on November 8th, 2020. Studies with hospitalised patients diagnosed with COVID-19 over 18 years old were eligible for inclusion. With a focus on informed consent, data were extracted on the study design, prestudy protocol registration, ethical approval, data anonymisation, data sharing and data transfer as proxies for study quality. For reasons of comparison, data regarding country income level, study location and journal impact factor were also collected. RESULTS: 972 studies were included. 21.3% of studies reported informed consent, 42.6% reported waivers of consent, 31.4% did not report consent information and 4.7% mentioned other types of consent. Informed consent reporting was highest in clinical trials (94.6%) and lowest in retrospective cohort studies (15.0%). The reporting of consent versus no consent did not differ significantly by journal impact factor (p=0.159). 16.8% of studies reported a prestudy protocol registration or design. Ethical approval was described in 90.9% of studies. Information on anonymisation was provided in 17.0% of studies. In 257 multicentre studies, 1.2% reported on data sharing agreements, and none reported on Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable data principles. 1.2% reported on open data. Consent was most often reported in the Middle East (42.4%) and least often in North America (4.7%). Only one report originated from a low-income country. DISCUSSION: Informed consent and aspects of data handling and sharing were under-reported in publications concerning COVID-19 and differed between countries, which strains study quality conduct when in dire need of answers.

RESUMEN

As the health-care industry emerges into a new era of digital health driven by cloud data storage, distributed computing, and machine learning, health-care data have become a premium commodity with value for private and public entities. Current frameworks of health data collection and distribution, whether from industry, academia, or government institutions, are imperfect and do not allow researchers to leverage the full potential of downstream analytical efforts. In this Health Policy paper, we review the current landscape of commercial health data vendors, with special emphasis on the sources of their data, challenges associated with data reproducibility and generalisability, and ethical considerations for data vending. We argue for sustainable approaches to curating open-source health data to enable global populations to be included in the biomedical research community. However, to fully implement these approaches, key stakeholders should come together to make health-care datasets increasingly accessible, inclusive, and representative, while balancing the privacy and rights of individuals whose data are being collected.
